Preparing the Chicken:
- Season the Chicken: Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
- Dredge the Chicken: Place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in three separate shallow dishes. Coat each piece of chicken first in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Making the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- Combine Sauce Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes if using.
- Thicken the Sauce: Mix the cornstarch and water in a separate bowl until smooth. Pour the honey garlic mixture into a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Whisk in the cornstarch mixture and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Coat the Chicken: Return the fried chicken pieces to the pan (or you can do this in a bowl) and toss with the honey garlic sauce until evenly coated.
Serving:
