Certainly! Baby back ribs are a popular type of pork rib that come from the top of the rib cage between the spine and the spare ribs, below the loin muscle. They are called “baby” because they are shorter in relation to the larger spare ribs, not because they come from younger animals. Baby back ribs are known for their tender, lean meat and are a favorite in American barbecue cuisine.

Here’s a basic recipe to prepare and cook baby back ribs:

Ingredients:

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs (about 3-4 lbs)
  • 2 tablespoons of kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of paprika
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • Your favorite barbecue sauce

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ribs:

  • Remove the membrane from the back of each rack of ribs. Slide a knife under the membrane anywhere along the rack. Use a paper towel to grab the edge of the membrane and pull it off.
  • In a bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, and cayenne pepper to make the dry rub.
  • Apply the dry rub generously on both sides of the ribs. Let them sit for at least 1 hour, or ideally, refrigerate them overnight to marinate.
