Ingredients

  • 1 pound smoked sausage (such as kielbasa or Andouille), sliced into rounds
  • 1 1/2 pounds baby potatoes (Yukon Gold or red), halved or quartered
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 ounce)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheese blend)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or milk)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Potatoes: In a large mixing bowl, toss the halved or quartered baby potatoes with olive oil, ranch seasoning, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange in a Baking Dish: Transfer the seasoned potatoes to a large baking dish or a rimmed baking sheet, spreading them out in an even layer. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
  4. Add the Sausage: After 20 minutes, remove the baking dish from the oven and add the sliced sausage. Stir everything together and return to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and slightly crispy.
  5. Prepare the Cheese Sauce: While the potatoes and sausage are baking, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream (or milk) and half of the shredded cheese. Stir until melted and creamy. Remove from heat.
  6. Combine Everything: Once the potatoes and sausage are done, pour the cheese sauce over the mixture and gently stir to combine. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  7. Bake Again: Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy!
