- Rolling pin
- Mixing spoon
- Pastry brush
How to Make Halloween Pizza Skulls
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease your skull mold if it’s not nonstick.
Step 2: Prepare the Dough and Fillings
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut the dough into squares large enough to fit into each skull mold with some overhang.
- Prepare your fillings by mixing the shredded cheese and pepperoni together. Have your sauce ready for easy assembly.
Step 3: Assemble the Pizza Skulls
- Press a square of dough into each skull cavity, gently pressing to cover the bottom and sides. Leave some dough overhanging the edges.
- Spoon about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce into each dough-lined skull cavity.
- Add a generous handful of the cheese and pepperoni filling, along with any other desired toppings.
- Top each skull with another small spoonful of cheese to make them extra gooey.
Step 4: Close and Bake
- Take the overhanging edges of the dough and fold them over the filling to close each pizza skull.
- Brush the tops of the dough with melted butter to help them turn golden brown.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the dough is golden and cooked through. Let them cool in the mold for a few minutes before carefully removing.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
- Serve your Halloween Pizza Skulls warm, paired with extra pizza sauce for dipping if desired.
Tips and Variations
- Add Spooky “Eyes”: Press small pieces of olives or pepperoni into the eye sockets for extra spookiness before baking.
- Stuffed with Veggies: Add a mix of bell peppers, onions, or mushrooms for a veggie-packed option.
- Make It Cheesy: Use a combination of mozzarella and cheddar for extra flavor and gooey texture.
- Serve with Dipping Sauces: Marinara, garlic butter, or ranch all make great dipping sauces.
Storage and Leftovers
Store any leftover pizza skulls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to crisp them back up, or in a microwave for about 30 seconds if you’re in a hurry.
